Dua Yaa Man Arjoho Le Kulle Khair
The following du`a is recommended after the daily obligatory prayers in the month of Rajab. The du`a, according to Shaykh `Abbas Qummi (rh) in Mafateehul Jinaan has been taught by Imam Ja`far as-Sadiq (a). Sayyid Ibn Tawus (rh) has narrated that Muhammad ibn Dhakwan—known as ‘al-Sajjad’ due to his long prostrations during which he used to weep so heavily that he lost his sight asked Imam Ja`far al-Sadiq (a.s), saying, “May Allah accept me as ransom for you! We are now in Rajab; please teach me a supplication due to which Almighty Allah may help me.” Hence, the Imam (a.s) asked him to write down the following dua:
bismillah hir rahman ir raheem
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
ya man arjuhu likulli khayrin,
O He Whom alone I hope for all good things;
wa amanu sakhatahu `inda kulli sharrin,
And I am safe from His anger at every evil.
ya man yu`ty alkathira bilqalili,
O He who gives a lot in exchange of a little.
ya man yu`ty man salahu,
O He who gives to one who asks Him.
ya man yu`ty man lam yasalhu wa man lam ya`rifhu tahannnan minhu wa rahmatan,
O He who gives to one who does not ask Him and does not know Him, Out of His affection and mercy.
a`tiny bimasalaty iiyyaka jami`a khayri alddunya
Give me, for my request is only to You alone, All the good of this world
wa jami`a khayri alakhirati,
and all the good of the Hereafter.
wasrif `anni bimasalaty iiyyaka jami`a sharr alddunyawa sharr alakhirati,
Keep away from me, for my request is only to You alone, All the evil of this world and the evil of the Hereafter.
fa’innhu ghayru manqusin ma a`tayta,
For indeed it is not diminishing what is given by You.
wa zidny min fazlika yakarimu
Increase (for) me from Your bounty, O The Generous
The narrator then added that Imam al-Sadiq (a.s), then, grasped his beard with his left hand, while reciting this supplication, and moved ceaselessly his forefinger of his right hand. He then uttered the following:
ya dhal-jalali wal-ikrami
O The Sublime and The Distinguished,
ya dhalnna`ma’i wal-judi
O The Bountiful and The Magnanimous,
ya zal-manni walttawli
O the Gracious and the Mighty,
harrim shaybaty `ala alnnar
